The origins of Astrology are known to be as old as the advent of mankind. But if there in one man who can be credited for developing a system for the astrologers of the 21st century, it is Professor K.S. Krishnamurti.

KSK, as he is commonly referred to, was born on November 1, 1908 , at Thiruvaiyaru in Tanjore District, in the state of Tamil Nadu, located in south of India.. After finishing his college education, he entered the service of the Government of Tamil Nadu in the Public Health Department, as an Inspector. He patiently and passionately studied the Hindu and Western systems of Astrology over many years; however, he was disappointed at the inadequacy and lack of precision of both systems.

Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti, never feared to experiment, challenge or voice his views on rules of astrology that didn’t work. He combined the positive aspects of the traditional astrology system with that of western astrology system and developed the KP Astrology system, known as Krishnamurti Paddhati, which in modern is believed to be one of the most accurate predictive astrology systems. Professor Krishnamurti never claimed to be blessed with any divine powers while making rules or predictions. Instead, he relied on practical research and encouraged, and emphasized on systematic study of many horoscopes for forming rules of the KP system.

Unlike Western astrology, which places importance on the planetary rulers of signs, the KP system emphasizes the role of the constellation, or Nakshatras, which the planets occupy. The Nakshatras of Hindu astrology are 27 equally sized small star groupings or asterisms, which are commonly referred to as “Stars”. Professor Krishnamurti, based on his research, presented the novel idea of making astrological predictions on Nakshatras, which underlie the Vimshottari dasa predictive system, in combination with the Western idea of quadrant houses, specifically those of Placidus. He subdivided each Nakshatra into 9 unequal parts or “Subs” based proportionately on the durations associated with each planet in the Vimshottari system. As this Nakshatra-based approach depends primarily on the Star groupings, and not the zodiacal signs, it is also referred to as “Stellar” astrology, and because it originated in theorizing of the Vimshottari dasa system, it uses this dasa system for timing the predictions.

The debate whether astrology is a science will continue to rage forever. The Krishnamurti Paddhati through it’s well defined methodology and rules, provides a systematic and scientific framework for the study of astrology. Since the time it was founded in the mid 1950’s, the correct application of this technique, has delivered accurate predictions related in the many facets of life, including marriage, childbirth, career growth, finances, purchase and sale of property, and more.

Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti’s many articles, research work and prediction notes research work are compiled and summarized in six books on KP Astrology called the KP Readers. In these books he has explained exhaustively the KP principles and methods for accurately predicting different events and their timings. In 1961, Professor KSK voluntarily retired from work, and undertook long journeys to all parts of India and propagated his findings. To further development and research on his system, he established the “Modern Stellar Astrological Research Institute” at Madras. In 1963, he started publishing a monthly magazine, “Astrology and Athrishta” to spread his system not only in India but also in many countries of East and West. In June 1970, he visited Kuala Lumpur on being invited by ‘The Malayan Astrological Society’ which conferred on him the title ‘Sothida Mannan’ with a gold medal. Professor Krishnamurti breathed his last on 29th March, 1972, with a message that the rules of astrology should forever be evolved and refined based on a systematic study and research of horoscopes.
